Building Stronger Communities in Puerto Rico
Mano Extendida Community Development Corporation works alongside local communities to create pathways toward economic resilience, self-sufficiency, and long-term stability. Through practical programs and community partnerships, we help families build stronger futures while restoring dignity, opportunity, and hope.
The following initiatives represent our planned programs as we secure funding and build partnerships. These programs may evolve as we continue learning, measuring, and engaging with the community.
Microenterprise Incubator
We will support early-stage entrepreneurs by providing mentorship, resources, and guidance during the critical startup phase. This incubator environment allows entrepreneurs to develop their ideas while receiving support from experienced mentors.
Business Mentorship Network
We plan to connect new entrepreneurs with experienced business leaders who can share insights and real-world experience.
Entrepreneur Network & Business Roundtables
Entrepreneurs benefit greatly from learning from one another. We host regular gatherings where business owners can share challenges, discuss marketing strategies, learn what works and what does not, and build relationships that strengthen the local business community.
Local Marketplaces & Community Events
We aim to create opportunities for entrepreneurs to showcase and sell their products through local markets, events, and partnerships.
Entrepreneurship & Job Creation (Planned Initiative 2027)
We aim to help individuals develop business skills, launch small enterprises, and access opportunities that can create sustainable income for their families and communities.
The Goal
Our goal is to create an environment where entrepreneurs are supported, equipped, and connected so their businesses can grow, create jobs, and strengthen Puerto Rico’s local economy.
Entrepreneurship & Small Business Development
Small businesses are the backbone of healthy communities. We are working to support aspiring entrepreneurs in turning ideas into sustainable businesses by developing training, mentorship, and access to resources.
Mano Extendida helps aspiring entrepreneurs turn ideas and innovation into sustainable businesses by providing training, mentorship, technical assistance, and access to resources that increase the likelihood of long-term success.
Our Program Approach
We are committed to building these programs with excellence and intentionality. Rather than launching everything at once, we will implement one program at a time, beginning with pilot phases that allow us to learn, improve, and scale what works. These programs will be launched in phases as funding and partnerships are established.
Planned Programs (Subject to Funding and Development)
Small Business 12-week Training Programs
We plan to offer practical training that equips entrepreneurs with the skills needed to launch and manage successful businesses. Training includes budgeting, pricing, marketing, licensing requirements, operations, and customer development.
Business Coaching & Technical Assistance
Entrepreneurs receive personalized guidance as they grow their businesses. We provide one-on-one coaching that helps business owners solve real problems, improve operations, and make better strategic decisions.
Website & Digital Presence Development
Many small businesses struggle because they lack a strong online presence. We help entrepreneurs build simple, professional websites and teach them how to use digital tools, social media, and online marketing to attract customers.
Capital, SBA Loan & Business Financing Guidance
Access to capital is often one of the biggest barriers for new entrepreneurs. We will help business owners understand financing options, prepare business plans, and navigate Small Business Administration programs and other funding opportunities. Our goal is to also provide capital investment to those who qualify for Mano Extendida PR program.
Energy Resilience for Small Businesses
Small businesses often suffer major losses during power outages. We help entrepreneurs explore renewable energy solutions that protect their operations and improve long term stability.
Strategic Partnerships
We will partner with renewable energy organizations, technical experts, and training providers to connect communities with trusted resources and reliable solutions.
Long Term Vision
Our long term vision is to help communities move toward greater energy resilience where homes, small businesses, and community centers can operate even when the broader grid fails.
By combining workforce development, education, and renewable energy partnerships, we aim to strengthen both the economic and physical stability of the communities we serve.
Solar & Energy Independence (Subject to Funding 2029)
Through renewable energy initiatives and community education, we promote solutions that help households and communities reduce dependency on unstable energy systems.
Solar & Energy Independence
Puerto Rico’s energy grid is fragile and unreliable, leaving families and businesses vulnerable to outages, rising costs, and disruptions after natural disasters. Many households struggle with high electricity bills while small businesses face instability when power failures interrupt operations.
Mano Extendida works to strengthen community resilience by promoting renewable energy solutions, practical training, and education that help households and neighborhoods move toward greater energy independence.
Our goal is to equip communities with the knowledge, resources, and partnerships needed to reduce energy vulnerability and build more stable local systems.
Programs & Initiatives:
Solar Workforce Training
We want to provide training programs that prepare individuals for careers in the growing renewable energy sector. Participants learn the fundamentals of solar installation, maintenance, and energy system basics, creating pathways toward stable employment while helping expand renewable energy capacity in Puerto Rico.
Community Solar Projects
We will collaborate with community organizations, churches, and local partners to support solar energy installations that benefit entire neighborhoods. These projects help reduce electricity costs while ensuring that critical community spaces can remain operational during outages.
Household Energy Education
Many families are unaware of simple ways to reduce energy costs. We provide workshops that teach households how to improve energy efficiency, understand solar options, and make informed decisions about their electricity usage.
Agricultural Entrepreneurship
Many farmers are also entrepreneurs. We support agricultural businesses by helping them develop marketing strategies, build websites, access financing, and expand their customer base.
Youth Agricultural Education
We will encourage younger generations to learn about agriculture through hands on training, workshops, and school partnerships that teach food production, sustainability, and agricultural entrepreneurship.
Long Term Vision
Our long term vision is to help build a stronger local food system where communities produce more of their own food, support local farmers, and reduce reliance on imported goods.
By strengthening agriculture and connecting farmers with markets and resources, we aim to create a more resilient and sustainable future for Puerto Rico.
Agriculture & Food Security (Subject to Funding 2030)
We will support local agriculture and sustainable food initiatives that strengthen Puerto Rico’s ability to feed its own communities and reduce reliance on imported goods.
Agriculture & Food Security
Puerto Rico imports the majority of its food, making communities vulnerable to supply disruptions, rising prices, and natural disasters. Strengthening local agriculture is essential for long term food security, economic stability, and community resilience.
Mano Extendida supports local agriculture and sustainable food initiatives that empower farmers, strengthen local food production, and help communities move toward greater food independence.
Our goal is to help communities grow more of their own food, support local farmers, and create systems that ensure families have reliable access to healthy and affordable food.
Programs & Initiatives.
Small Farmer Support Programs
Many small farmers struggle with access to markets, resources, and technical support. Mano Extendida helps farmers connect with training, business support, and local distribution opportunities that allow them to grow sustainable agricultural enterprises.
Agricultural Training & Education
We will offer workshops and training programs that teach sustainable farming practices such as soil health, crop planning, water conservation, and modern growing techniques that improve productivity and resilience.
Community Gardens
Community gardens allow neighborhoods to participate directly in food production. Mano Extendida works with local residents, churches, and schools to develop gardens that provide fresh produce while teaching agricultural skills.
Local Food Networks
We will help connect farmers with restaurants, markets, and community buyers to strengthen the local food economy and reduce reliance on imported products.
Counseling & Emotional Support
Life challenges such as financial stress, family conflict, and personal struggles affect many individuals. We connect people with counseling resources, mentoring relationships, and supportive communities where they can find guidance and care.
Service & Compassion Initiatives
Faith is lived out through action. Mano Extendida mobilizes volunteers and community members to serve others through acts of compassion, practical assistance, and community outreach.
Long Term Vision
Our long term vision is to cultivate communities where people experience belonging, spiritual growth, and mutual care. By strengthening relationships and encouraging faith centered living, we aim to help individuals and families flourish both spiritually and socially.
Community Development (2027)
We establish spaces and programs that encourage collaboration, leadership development, and community engagement while addressing local needs.
Community & Spiritual Well Being
Healthy communities require more than economic opportunity. People flourish when they experience belonging, dignity, spiritual encouragement, and meaningful relationships.
Mano Extendida creates welcoming spaces where individuals and families can build community, grow spiritually, and support one another through life’s challenges. Rooted in faith and guided by the values of compassion, service, and human dignity, we seek to nurture the whole person.
Our goal is to strengthen both the spiritual and relational fabric of the communities we serve.
Programs & Initiatives
Community Gatherings
We host gatherings and events that bring neighbors together, encourage fellowship, and strengthen relationships across the community.
Spiritual Encouragement & Faith Based Support
Through prayer gatherings, faith discussions, and spiritual mentoring, we provide opportunities for individuals to grow in their faith and find encouragement during difficult seasons of life.

Strong families strengthen communities. We offer workshops, mentoring, and resources that help couples and families build healthy relationships, communication, and stability.
